Aviation Mental Health Services

Specialized mental health support for aviation professionals, focusing on the unique challenges and pressures of the industry. Confidential, ethical, and effective care designed specifically for pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation personnel.

Understanding Aviation Mental Health

Aviation professionals face unique challenges that can significantly impact mental well-being. The combination of irregular schedules, high-stakes decision-making, and the responsibility for passenger safety creates a distinct set of stressors that require specialized understanding and support.

Confidentiality and Medical Certification:

BluSky Therapy is keenly aware of the complexities surrounding the maintenance of a medical certificate. My primary focus is to protect aviation professionals seeking mental health support by delivering confidential, ethical, and effective care. It's crucial to understand that disclosing mental health concerns does not inherently result in the denial or delay of your medical certification.

However, should you receive a formal diagnosis, you will be required to submit documentation confirming your ability to safely fulfill your professional responsibilities. It is possible that aviation professionals will need to report any individual counseling or psychotherapy sessions, as well as any diagnoses they have received.

When applying for or renewing a medical certificate, the discretion of what information to disclose lies with the aviation professional. I highly recommend that all aviation professionals strictly follow all reporting guidelines. My practice is designed to protect your privacy while helping you maintain your medical certification, and we work within FAA guidelines to ensure you receive the care you need while maintaining your career.

About Tara

With a passion for mental health that began in Florida, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. My journey continued at Rollins College in Winter Park, where I completed my Master's in Mental Health Counseling. After becoming fully licensed in 2004, I moved my practice to Colorado in 2009, where I obtained my LPC certification.

In 2021, I extended my practice to serve clients across multiple states, obtaining licensure in Ohio, North Carolina, and California. This multi-state licensure allows me to provide accessible mental health support to a broader community while maintaining the highest standards of professional care.

Creating a safe, compassionate space for my clients to share their stories is at the heart of my practice. I consider it both an honor and a responsibility to be part of your healing journey, and I approach each session with deep respect and commitment to your well-being.
